The immeasurable manifestations of science and technology have deeply affected our thought process and the way we live. This scientific knowledge and its technological applications is expediting at a very fast pace. For instance, the tech industry today, is sodden with explosively dynamic milieu of ever-increasing innovation that every next day we witness some milestone or a breakthrough.
The Exponential Time
Tech paraphernalia morphed into a completely new growth dimension within a gap of few decades only. For instance, radio took 38 years to reach 50 million users, TV took 13 years while internet 4 years. iPod took 3 years and Facebook just 2 years.
If we talk about only queries in Google, we’d find, there are astoundingly 31 billion searchers on Google every month. Consequent upon which the internet devices too have seen an upward graph that too with a huge difference, in 1984 internet devices were 1,000 which rose to 1,000, 000 by 1992 and around 2008 the figures escalated to 1,000,000,000.
It was 1992 when the first commercial text message was sent using a personal computer while today the number of messages sent and received per day exceeds the total population of the planet Earth.
Decoding DNA is a tool in the hands of researchers now. They have gone far in terms of managing the placement and expression of genes.
With the advent of nanotechnology, the scientists are able to mobilize microorganisms in performing specific tasks within our bodies to repair malfunctioning systems.
Artificial intelligence (AI), a branch of computer science has evolved intelligent machines and software. These creations are nearly in all fields of human life, right from home applications, to office work, driving, internet, war zones, aerospace, these smart machines have been employed to do the tasks.
Hybrid vehicles are ushering a new era in automobile industry. While rockets like Epsilon are creating a mark in the international rocket launching business, by performing self-autonomous tasks, like keeping checks and assembling parts.
Slow Pace Of The Past Decades
Initially people were skeptics when dealing with change especially the technological change. But the gap between the major innovations was enough in understanding the comprehensibility of technology. Radio came somewhere around 1890’s whereas TV made its presence felt around the late 1920s. There was a gap of thirty years in understanding one form of technology, which was radio, and then the other one, that is, TV.
Another and equally important factor could be the element of segregation across the globe. This we can assert considering the contemporary times. Now the planet is more of interconnected individuals, because of which business leaders can influence and envision the trajectory of an innovation, an element that was missing before.
Earlier a concept took decades to have an impact but now tech innovations are an accepted norm for heralding futurism. Galileo was ridiculed when he challenged the belief Church involving sun moving around earth. Similar set of people laughed at the Wright Brothers when they thought of making a plane. However, today people do not hold the same mockery against innovation, for instance, there are supporters who believe in Musk’s hyperloop concept.
Innovation Is The Future
Tentacles of innovation has already touched our individual lives, people have started creating their comfort zone in the realm of innovation. Unlike before, people are adapting and readily assimilating new tools and welcoming innovation.
Humanity has understood that it offers the bridge between the imagination and the practical. So in order to reach a stage of equilibrium, the movement is from imagination to good thinking, towards innovation and finally to practical application. In between this progression, there happens to be interactive processes, which evolve into a constructive iterative process. In other words, innovation opens doors to new learnings and embarks humanity to a new domain of progress.
